Las Ramblas Barcelona

One of the most attractive places is Las Ramblas (Les Rambles in Catalan), Jfader_batto_facade barcelona infobetween the Plaza Catalunya (in Catalan Plaça de Catalunya), downtown and the old port. There are news stands, flowers, birds, pets, street actors, cafes, restaurants and shops. Near the port used to settle markets, as well as painters and designers of all kinds, emphasizing the area for its cosmopolitan nature and art.

Walking along Les Rambles you can admire a number of interesting buildings, such as the Palacio de la Virreina, the Boqueria market and the famous theater “Gran Teatro del Liceo, which stages operas and ballets. A short walk is the Maritime Museum (Museu Maritim), mainly devoted to naval history in the Mediterranean, and which displays the full-scale reproduction of an ancient galley battle. The old port offers other attractions such as an entertainment center with shops, restaurants, an IMAX cinema, and documentary center and an aquarium of the Mediterranean marine fauna.

In the historical center, very near Las Ramblas, the Cathedral stands out, the Plaza de San Jaime which houses the buildings of the Generalitat of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council, and both lanes of the Gothic Quarter and the Raval and Borne.

You can appreciate the medieval wall beside Drassanes, parallel to the imposing Roman walls and the entrance of the aqueduct Navarro lieutenant, next to the Hospital, or the old door next to the cathedral, where Barcino Barcelona walled cities of the Roman Empire. They also highlight the strengths of the Forti medieval castle and the castle hill, though the town and built defensive walls in 1714 and around the city, were demolished in the nineteenth century to urban sprawl, yet there are still buildings in the Church and Arsenal, which houses the seat of the Parliament of Catalonia.
